You are currently on Step 4 of the Grow to Your Fullest journey, a part of the Bloom to Your Fullest series. (Fig 1: 4 Steps to Grow to Your Fullest) In our previous post, Plant Seeds of Success by delving into the concept of planting seeds of success in people's lives. So far we finished the 4-steps, find your signature vision, conquer internal barriers, break through external obstacles, and bloom to your fullest (Figure below). Looking back, you can find that what keeps your energy high and your momentum running and unstoppable at each stage is the six powers (aka Gears) that you can shift into at any time: God, vision, character, execution, faith, and leadership (the yellow Arrows in the figure below).
Now let’s discuss how to continue the unstoppable momentum by utilizing six gears to enable you to grow and reach your fullest potential beyond. First we'll focus on the power from God.
God: With Him, All Things Are Possible
With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. —Matthew 19:26
God is the source of life. Without Him, nothing exists. Our life is from Him, so is our fullest in Him. “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority” (Colossians 2:9-10).
Our journey to our fullest potential begins with placing God at the center of our lives. His words nurture our thoughts, guide our behavior, establish our values, build our principles, and shape our character in a way that honors Him and benefits others.
The secret to discovering our signature vision lies in God, as He is the master of the universe. He holds the past, present, and future, and He has a plan for each one of us. As He has said: “For I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
We cannot find our vision within ourselves or from others. As the saying goes, “We do not know the true face of Mount Lu because we are inside it.” Our life's purpose does not originate solely from our parents or our own understanding. Without knowing God, we have no way of discovering our life's true vision. Understanding God and His purpose for bringing us into this world is the first step.
Conquering ourselves also requires God. His words help us break free from our limitations, our hard shell, sprout, and grow beyond our comfort zones. By building our faith in God, we can overcome worldly challenges and gain the courage and confidence to persevere. When taking action, we must seek God's wisdom and guidance, and then work diligently with determination. Once we succeed or achieve our dreams, it's time for us to receive a new vision from God.
God, being the Holy Spirit, is omnipotent and can guide, enlighten, and empower us at anytime and anywhere. Knowing God, believing in Him, and receiving His support are essential first steps in our journey.
Returning to Ming's story, in America, he held onto his dream of becoming a doctor. Despite facing ruthless rejection from the director of the admission office who doubted his abilities as a Chinese student, Ming did not let the voice of impossibility deter him. Through hard work and unwavering faith in God, he persevered and eventually gained admission to Harvard Medical School.
Today, Ming Wang is a renowned eye surgeon based in Nashville, known worldwide for his expertise. He generously donates his time and skills to restore sight to the blind. His inspiring life story is even being adapted into a biographical drama film, Sight, based on his autobiography, "From Darkness to Sight."
Remember, with God, all things are possible. Wang's famous quote sums it up beautifully: "Science and technology give you the tools, but faith gives you the purpose."
In the next post, we will delve into the second gear of building unstoppable momentum: Character, which forms the core foundation of our victories.
May you grow to your fullest!
