After attending an air show in 1908, Amelia Earhart developed a dream of becoming a pilot, even though it was a male-dominated field where women were often discouraged during the early 20th century. Achieving her dream seemed like an impossible feat.

Welcome to Step 4 of the Grow to Your Fullest journey (Figure below), part of the Bloom to Your Fullest series. In our previous post, Unleashing Vision: Defying Limitations, Creating Impact, we explored the third power (aka Gears) —Vision which serves as a catalyst for strength, enabling us to overcome our limitations and making meaningful impact. Today let’s delve into the fourth gear: Execution —to take actions persistently to reach our desired destination.

Execution: Be Perseverant and Make Things Happen

Faith without action is dead; it is through our actions that we bring our dreams to life - James 2:17

So far, we have discussed the importance of partnering with God, cultivating a pleasing character, and having a clear vision. However, we will not reach anywhere without taking action. Every dream will be an empty talk without any execution. Execution is the key that demonstrates our ability to deliver results, and it is essential for our success.

At each stage of our journey, we require effective execution to fulfill our plans. It demands effort and step-by-step actions to turn our dreams into reality. We begin with small and simple steps, progressing inch by inch, gradually shifting our focus from quantity to quality.

On the path to achieving our fullest potential, we must take deliberate actions at each stage. Winston Churchill said, “Success is not achieved through mere intentions, but through deliberate and persistent actions.”

We start by identifying our unique vision. We delve deep within ourselves, acknowledging and breaking free from our ego. We courageously step forward, doing whatever it takes to overcome all obstacles. Finally, we stretch ourselves beyond our limits and climb a new mountain.

Let’s continue Amelia’s dream.

In order to pursue her passion, Earhart took bold actions: she worked odd jobs to save money for flying lessons. In 1921, she began taking flying lessons in California and invested a great deal of time and effort into mastering the skills required to become a pilot.

Amelia's determination led to remarkable accomplishments. In 1928, she received an invitation to join a transatlantic flight as a passenger, becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. This experience only fueled her desire to push further in the field of aviation.

Amelia's determination reached its peak in 1932 when she set out to achieve her most significant milestone yet: becoming the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. On May 20, she embarked on her journey from Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, and after a challenging 14-hour flight, she successfully landed in a pasture in Northern Ireland.

Execution is an unwavering commitment to our dreams, requiring a spirit of resilience and determination. It demands discipline and perseverance, especially during challenging times.

No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God (Luke 9:62)

Through unwavering persistence, we can ultimately achieve success, a fact that can be mathematically proven. Persistence makes miracles. A professor once presented his students with a math problem, asking about the probability of succeeding at least once in 100 attempts with a 1% success rate. The correct answer, 63%, surprised many. By persisting and trying 100 times, each with a 99% failure rate, the likelihood of success in at least one attempt is 63%.

Amelia Earhart's story exemplifies the power of persistence. She faced numerous challenges during her flights, including mechanical failures, adverse weather conditions, and navigating unfamiliar territories. Yet, she pushed through these obstacles with unwavering determination and courage.

Before achieving success, frustrations and failures are inevitable. However, giving up means forfeiting the opportunity for success. The more we try and fail, the closer we come to achieving our goals. Successful individuals in history did not possess extraordinary luck but possessed an unwavering determination to accomplish their dreams.
