For the past two years, most organizations have been asking: “Which AI tool should we adopt?” But May 2026 revealed a deeper shift.
The real question is becoming: “What kind of operating model do we need when AI can search, reason, act, and execute across the enterprise?”
Two major developments this month made that shift clear. AI is no longer just sitting beside the worker. It is beginning to move inside the workflow.

Google also emphasized upgraded agentic development through Antigravity and agent orchestration across enterprise workflows.
OpenAI made a similar enterprise move in May. On May 7, 2026, OpenAI announced that ChatGPT Workspace Agents now support eligible Enterprise workspaces with Enterprise Key Management. These agents can automate repeatable tasks and business workflows across connected apps, including ChatGPT and Slack. They can use files, skills, custom MCP servers, scheduled runs, version history, analytics, and admin controls.
